Early Spring in Ohio 1
May 30, 2015
I returned to Ohio earlier than usual this year, in time to see the early spring here, the first time in many years. These jonquils were in a semi-abandoned lot that I passed on my way to the river May 3.
Later note: Oops. Friend Ann looked up these flowers. They are not jonquils, she says, but daffodils.

Beautiful – the translucency of Narcissi petals is one the joys of Spring.

This is lovely – good job on the depth of field, with the out-of-focus flowers in front framing the others.

Thanks, Melinda. As you may have noticed, I tend to take photos of things that are flat—or where I think I want everything in the frame to be in focus. It’s not a style I practice on purpose; it just happens that way. In the case of these flowers, though, I knew that I wanted the woods behind them to be out of focus; the out-of-focus flowers in front were a bonus. Thanks for noticing the depth of field here; I think I need more practice in this area.

Sorry for commenting so late…this is just gorgeous though! I love the light. And aren’t daffodils, Narcissi and jonquils all the same animals, just different names?
