The Iron Bacteria of August—1
August 18, 2014
A week ago I was able to walk across the Vermilion River for the first time in over a year. Last summer there was just too much rain. The last few years, I have found more Leptothrix discophora films and other evidence of the iron bacteria on the other side of the river, so I’ve been looking forward to low water for a long time. Usually July and October are the best months to photograph these objects of my passion, but this July was too wet. I hope October is true to form. Well, let’s face it, I’ll take these guys whenever and wherever I can get them.

This is terrific, Linda.

You like it, eh, Ken? I’m so glad. I fear that my love for this stuff may cloud my judgement about what makes a good photograph when I’m shooting it, so your comment is extra appreciated.
