I think you should have run to Home Depot and added the missing screws…those screw gaps drive me nuts, like needing a dental implant.

The artist intentionally left the screws out of those holes to give the viewer the opportunity of filling them in their imagination, thereby enjoying a participatory experience. 😉 😉 😉
