Vetch in the Grass
June 25, 2018
If you thought this photo was of an old alfalfa field (because that was the original title to this post), you are to be forgiven. My biologist husband just informed me that these purple flowers (and plant) are vetch. My apologies.
Love that purple flower. Don’t recognize it although it has some similarity to salvia’s. What a nice surprise in the field!

Actually, I used to see it often out where we used to live, but not usually embedded in such nice grass. Thanks for writing, Patricia.

You have really caught the way this plant sprawls across the field, using all the grass for support, beautiful. And how I love that shade of blue-violet!

The color may not be true, but I liked it, too, Lynn, so I didn’t even think of “correcting” it.

I love that mix of colours. I haven’t seen Vetch for years, a pretty flower.

Purple with green has been a favorite of mine since I was 12 or so. My mother once sewed me a printed skirt that had these colors.
