August 2017 Shale Shore 1

The shale along the shore of the Vermilion River fascinates me no matter how many times I see and photograph it. It’s especially appealing when decorated with leaves.

Thank you, Jessica. I’m sure you’ve seen shale fracture like this. I love how moisture collects in the cracks.

Thanks, Adrian. That the leaf is red doesn’t hurt, does it.

Thanks, Ken. As fall progresses, these red leaves will be easier and easier to find, but they won’t all be on such nice sections of shale.

Fantastic! Those patterns of wetness are so indistinct, but the red leaf has such clarity – it’s a great duet.

It would have been a good abstract without the leaf, but the leaf is a wonderful addition. Perfectly positioned in the frame.

Cool, like a landscape shot from a satellite …but the leaf changes all…
