    • This is a northern Ohio river near the small town of Birmingham. It empties into Lake Erie. I see that the Illinois Vermilion River is spelled the same way, though. It’s said that our Ohio river gets its name from the red clay banks, and my guess is that the “red clay” referenced is really the iron oxide that the iron bacteria aggregate. This is what I’m talking about. Have you ever seen something like this on the Illinois Vermilion River, Tom?
