The round object below the leaf is a lump of marcasite, an iron-disulfide mineral that can contribute to the growth of iron bacteria like Leptothrix discophora. I was puzzled Saturday that I didn’t see evidence of the iron bacteria in this area. I’m still puzzled.
It’s a really nice composition, and the colors are lovely –

Thanks, Lynn. I seem to favor a long horizontal line crossed over by a short vertical line. And I always go for blue and orange near each other.
