Having missed so many northern early springs, I’d forgotten how trees look lacy and subtly colorful at this stage.

I did enjoy it, Ken—except for the cold and too-frequent cloudiness. It has more variety of color and shape than what I see around me this June 3, where all the leaves look about the same color green.

I’ve come to treasure that earliest spring look of subtle color and the lacy effect the new buds give the trees. So fleeting, so beautiful.
