Linda Grashoff's Photography Adventures

Photographs from Here and There

November 19, 2023

When I create a post of archived photos (such as From the Archives of 2008—6), I’m usually left with some photos that don’t fit the sequence. I throw these into a collection I call Blog Post Future. Today’s post shows a few photos from that collection. These are of animals, starting with insects and ending with humans.

1 Goldenrod soldier beetle on Queen Anne’s lace

2  Goldenrod soldier beetle on bull thistle

3 Northern green frog (I think)

4 Peacock

5 Brown pelican

6 Snowy egret

7 American white ibis

8 White German shepard

9 Little girl—now 15 years old—with man

10 This little guy—now 11—was just learning to walk. I was sure his mother would like the documentation, so I photographed first and asked second. She was delighted.

I love these rare photos of people (and birds and dog and frog) and even bugs.

    • Thanks, Anonymous. You’re right, my people photos are pretty rare.

  2. Your post reminded me of the musical piece “Carnival of the Animals” by Saint-Saëns (though he stopped short of people).

  3. The peacock portrait is a knockout, Linda. And the first two photos are stunning. I have a folder on my desktop called “POST LATER”. Someday I’ll get around to posting some of them.
Oh, that little guy at the end made me smile.

    • Thank you, Ken. I’d never heard of a goldenrod soldier beetle until I prepared this post. That little guy makes me smile every time I see him on the computer. (My screen saver is a continuing slide show of all my digital photos.)

  4. The first photo is stunning, Linda. I really like the subdued palette. The pelican is a winner, too. 😊

  5. “Starting with insects and ending with humans” got a laugh, Linda. I like the way you climbed the evolutionary ladder. And I’m with Mic – the first beetle is superb and the pelican is wonderful. But I love the final sequence, too! No wonder she was pleased! Glad you posted these – you may not photograph humans and other animals often but when you do you get some real gems.
