Reflections on a Building

In Sarasota stands a glass-walled building that fascinates me because of how it reflects the sky and a nearby building. Here are photographs I took of it between 2008 and 2014.

You really were fascinated, to keep taking pictures of the building’s reflections from 2008 through 2014. Along the lines of cubism in painting, you launched rectanglism in photography. Some of the rectangles serve as an allegory about people: though physically next to one another, they may offer very different views.

I could see your fascination with this building. Beautiful, unique shots, Linda. If it’s possible, you should consider continuing the series. I would be interested in the results. You have such a creative vision.

Thank you, Anonymous. I’m not making it down to Sarasota as often as I used to, but I will try to remember to photograph this building when I go the next time. I wish I had taken more photos of it over the years.

I am always intrigued by your vision of things that many, myself especially, would walk past with never a notice. To pick this one building and study it over the years is a great project. Well done, Linda. I especially like numbers 6-8 that in a way resemble hieroglyphics. Number 9 is sort of Daliesque.

Thank you, Steve. There’s a blessing and a curse in noticing so many things, I think. I’m easily distracted. That makes it harder for me to stay on task than it is for other people. I’m not sure I want to change places, though. I like your thoughts on hieroglyphics and Dali.

A very late note of appreciation for your post, with so many curvy variations of squares. 😉 Nice color palette, too!
Numbers 2,3, & 4 are my big favorites here.
