The Celery Fields in Fog 1

December 26, 2017

Sunday morning my friend Lynda and I went to the Celery Fields to take photographs. We started clicking around 7:30, and the fog hung around for two more hours. Lucky us!

    • Thanks, Alan. I was a little afraid of shooting into the sun like that, but remembered reading somewhere that if you can comfortably look at the sun with your eyes, it’s OK to photograph it. I don’t think I killed my sensors.

  2. And why are they called celery fields? I’m always photographing into the sun, but then the sun up here is a good deal weaker, and always obstructed by vegetation. It’s fun to see these open spaces – a different Florida for sure!

    • The link (hint hint) tells all about why they are called celery fields. It’s surprising to me how quickly you get to open spaces driving inland from the coast.

      • OK, got it – must be some good birds there, if you find the right spot at the right time.

        • Oh, yeah. It’s THE place for birding around here, I think.

Photos one and four are really elegant compositions of shapes and light.

    • Thank you, Larry. I could probably find similar shapes most days at the Celery Fields, but I wonder how long I would have to wait for another day of such light.
