The Siding of the Apollo

June 4, 2017

You may have noted the siding (for want of a better word) on the old Apollo ticket booth in yesterday’s post. The same material, mostly without the swirling agate design, clads the walls of the building’s facade. Here’s a close-up view of some of the vitrolite tiles on the booth.

    • It really is, Ken. I tried to position myself where I would get the fewest reflections, but, dummy me, I forgot to rotate my polarizing filter, which may have helped more. Guess I’ll go back to find out some day. I was sorry to read that no one is producing this stuff anymore.

    • So do I, Andy. It’s a shame that this material is no longer manufactured.
