Home Sweet Home
September 27, 2013
Continuing to wander June 2, the day I found the one tree among many and the gigantic silos, I came upon an old house in extreme disrepair. Now, I love to photograph old things that have passed their usual usefulness, but this house made me sad. It had to have been such a pretty little house when it was new. I’m listening to Little Women these days as I ride the elliptical machine at the gym, and I imagine that Meg’s house must have looked like this. Such care was taken with the details that are still evident: the roof brackets, the outside trim around the windows and door, the wallpaper inside. A family—more than one family over the years, most likely—must have loved this house. I hope none of the former residents ever saw what became of it.

I love this type of shoot. Old and abandoned is something I cannot pass by without photographing! Cool shots. 🙂

Thanks! I was lucky this time. It’s so frustrating to see something along the road and see nowhere to pull off.
