Savoring the Last Bits of Winter—1

As I write this—on April 23, the day before you may read it—it is a glorious spring day in Oberlin: sunshine and an unbelievable 73 degrees. Yesterday, when I took the string of photos I’ll be posting for the next few days, I wore my down winter jacket with the hood firmly tied. I was open to hints of spring. We’d had several over the last week or so even poking through snow. What I found more of was the last bits of winter, soon to be drowned out by all kinds of greenery. Brown can be a lovely color when you know you soon won’t see as much of it.
