Walking through the parking lot, I saw the morning glories climbing the sabal (cabbage) palm as I approached the main path in South Lido Park. I took these little jewels, struck by slanted morning light, as a good omen for finding more photographs that morning, but the pickings overall turned out to be slim. While looking for a good external link to information about the sabal palm, I learned that the old frond bases—where this morning glory is tethered—are called bootjacks (scroll down that page). To learn another cool thing about sabal palms, click here and scroll down past the second photograph.
