#8 reminds me a lot of the picture you just sent of the tree on that grey day with the winter sun. Only, one is of angles created by ladders, fencing, and construction stuff made by men. The other is of angles made by a tree spookily lit by this dim orb behind it (and I really like it). You are fabulous!

What a nice roundup! The bike is outstanding and seems to be one of those photos that would win contests or be on the cover of a major magazine. it’s such a visual surprise. The next photo requires more of the viewer and I love that one, too, for the amusing color harmonies between the statue and bush. The fan photo is beautifully processed to my eye and has a powerful presence. #7 is pure fun – not just the cones but the way one’s at an angle and that takeout drink cup. I like the chaotic diagonals in #8. It reminds me of NYC. Of the remaining five my favorites are the last two, for their subtlety. Florida, and not a palm tree in sight! 😉

We don’t often have chances to take such simple photos as the one of the bike, do we. Happy it appeals to you. Glad you get the point of the next photo; I wondered if it was too subtle. That fan photo has powered three other works based on a drawing I made of it and turned into a linocut, then printed on fabric, embroidering on top of one. To my mind, the traffic cones make a triangle with the take-out cup, and I liked how the cones are almost mirrored in the doorways. Thanks for all your observations, Lynn.

You have me wide-eyed with curiosity about the fan photo variations. My best, oldest (I mean for the longest time!) friend, also Linda, would be immensely curious, too. She and I have talked many times about turning various images into printed fabric. Maybe you can email me a photo of the drawing and/or print on fabric someday. Have a good weekend!

My first reaction was that there were going to be 2008 photographs and then I quickly realized that there were 2008 photographs. 🙂 More wonderful observations. #9 resembles some of the ice I find with those radiating lines.

Thanks, Steve. I probably have 2008 photographs of Florida, but I promise not to show them all. I wish I could remember what’s going on in #9. It sure isn’t ice (but I know what you mean). It may be plastic that is meant to obscure what is being constructed behind it and that developed a hole someone closed up with aluminum foil. That’s a big guess.

That’s a good guess. I’ll elaborate and suggest whatever that is in the middle caused the hole. Maybe a scrunched up pie tin.
