Sand on Beer Can Beach—1
January 30, 2017
Beer Can Beach (not its official name, but the one most people know) is at the tip of Longboat Key. Boaters used to gather here to drink beer, though I’m happy to say I’ve never seen a beer can on this beach. Now there are signs telling people that alcohol is not allowed on the beach, so maybe people don’t even drink beer there anymore. The wind blows pretty steadily, judging from how the sand is usually swept into interesting configurations. I don’t think the receding tide is solely responsible for the designs because to take these photos (two more to come), I stood with my back to the water.
I think a beer can would have spoiled this composition.
