Stump with Character, South Lido Park 1

January 13, 2017

Many years ago I came across a stump in South Lido Park that appealed to me. Somehow it reminded me of the R2D2 of Star Wars, so that’s what I named it. Over the years (maybe 12?) it has increased in character while looking more and more fragile.

  2. I’ve seen trees like this and I wonder – How is this tree still standing? It’s just not yet ready to die. It grows in character as you rightly say.

    • It’s funny how one can become fond of such things. I think R2D2 is still standing because it is only about three and a half feet tall. There may not be enough weight to pull it down. But I prefer your explanation: it’s just not ready.
