Stump with Character, South Lido Park 1

Many years ago I came across a stump in South Lido Park that appealed to me. Somehow it reminded me of the R2D2 of Star Wars, so that’s what I named it. Over the years (maybe 12?) it has increased in character while looking more and more fragile.

    I’ve seen trees like this and I wonder – How is this tree still standing? It’s just not yet ready to die. It grows in character as you rightly say.

      It’s funny how one can become fond of such things. I think R2D2 is still standing because it is only about three and a half feet tall. There may not be enough weight to pull it down. But I prefer your explanation: it’s just not ready.
