This is the last photo of the All-Star dumpster that shows a star, but I assure you that the rest of the photographs still to come in the Dumpster Heaven and the All-Stars series are of the same dumpster.

I hope to find another AllStar dumpster with stars on it some day, Ken. If by “a lot of material to work with” you mean I could profitably produce some kind of manipulation of these images, I only wish. I’m (almost) never as happy with my manipulated images as I am with them presented more or less straight. I long to create meaningful composites but don’t know where to start. Maybe it’s the meaning in a composite that I have trouble with. I know the meaning of my straight images: beauty and/or interest is to be found everywhere, and the glory of the physical world is not to be ignored or taken for granted. I praise what is. This is pretty much my photographic mission. How can I express this thought in a composite, which is not what is??? I’m stymied. Suggestions welcome.

I guess I didn’t make my self clear (not the first time for me). By “a lot of material to work with” I was implying that there seems to be an endless supply of dumpsters out there that you could work with and bring your unique talent to. These shots don’t need a high level of manipulation (in the form of post processing) simply because they’re beautiful from the start. Who knows, there might be another book in this for you – a “Book of Dumpsters”. I enjoy working on series photos and have given thought to the book process myself if I could ever have the discipline to complete one.

Oh! OK. Yes, I do want to keep working with dumpsters. I especially like them because they are not supposed to be beautiful, and are receptacles of things you don’t want. I had not thought of a “Book of Dumpsters,” but I do like the idea. I wonder . . .. BTW, you don’t need a lot of discipline to do a book if you’re willing to let the process take a long time, like 10 years. You could take cosmic time to do “A Cosmic World.”
