Thanks, Lynn. On photos of water whose surface is moving —even just due to the wind—I don’t know what I’m going to get when I trip the shutter. The shutter speed has to be at least 1/80th of a second to avoid blur, and our eyes can’t stop the motion like a camera can. I’m never sure of the composition, though sometimes I have a better idea of how the photo will turn out than others. Anyway, that’s when I wind up with square formats. I probably shouldn’t think of them as failed horizontals or failed verticals, but because I didn’t envision a square photo when I took it, I usually do. Glad you like this one. I do, too, though I can’t get away from thinking of cropping as cheating.
This is a tremendously attractive series of images that I have been following in the last few days/weeks, Linda. The patterning is so unusual and creates fascinating abstracts

Thanks, Leslie. Today Sarasota is gray and rainy, albeit 66 degrees at the moment. These days don’t occur very often here.
