The Queen Mary 1
June 29, 2015
Almost two years ago I had an opportunity to stay aboard the steamship The Queen Mary, permanently docked in Long Beach, California. You can find many good photographs of the exterior and interior of this beautiful old ship online that far outshine the ones I took. The photos of mine that I like best are of the engine room and other parts of the ship’s bowels. Here’s one such photo, followed by a sign that hangs above this apparatus.

Having never been on a large ship like the Queen before, I never gave much thought to fire extinguishers before but the co2 makes sense. The first shot is so well composed, too.

Thank you, Ken. The other parts of the ship were elegant, but the “basements” were more thrilling to me.
