Linda Grashoff's Photography Adventures

Downtown Same Day 4

February 27, 2015

What I was doing, when I discovered the wall, the floor, and the dumpster, was heading toward Sarasota’s annual motorcycle festival. Thunder by the Bay has some elements in common with art fairs, namely vendors’ booths. This photograph is of a vendor’s display of lights to mount on motorcycles. I love to photograph the cyclists and tourists at the festival, but I never have people sign release forms so don’t post those photographs here. I understand that it is legal to photograph people on public streets, but still . . .

  1. I feel the same way regarding privacy issues and street photography. I don’t think it’s right to post candid photos of unsuspecting recognizable people on the Internet without their consent.

    Very nice photo, btw.

    • Thanks, Ken. I’m kind of wishy washy concerning the morals of street photography. I don’t care if anyone takes my photograph, and I don’t have an issue with other people taking photos of people without their knowing. I just feel intrusive when I take photos of people unawares and don’t want to increase that feeling by sharing the photos. I do have an exception, though: I show my my street photos to my friend Janet, a fellow photographer, because I want her critique.
