Mangrove Love

August 13, 2013

I know why I like red mangroves so much! It’s because they’re almost animated. It’s as if they could just walk right off on those spindly legs of theirs. Hmm. But then there’s the tangledness, too. I really like that. And the way early morning sun often spotlights their parts. And I like their decorations of lichen, especially the yellow kind, even though I just read that some scientists consider lichens parasitic. Here are some red mangroves I found at Quick Point Nature Preserve April 14. I’m sure red mangroves are not closely related to corn, but look at the similarity of their feet. Photograph number 5 is mangrove; photograph number 6 is corn.
