From the Archives of 2006—3

Sarasota (Florida) is big on ballet. Besides a supporting a professional troupe, the Sarasota Ballet offers lessons for the aspiring. On January 15, 2006, the dancers performed on blocked-off downtown streets. Driving from Sarasota back to Ohio on April 18 I took the Blue Ridge Parkway for the first time. The glories of the parkway did not spoil me; I still loved seeing the sycamores back home.
1 I’m sure the performance was good, but backstage offered more of my cup of tea.
2 I’m trying to think of this photograph having soft focus rather than being out of focus.

Lovely. I like the juxtaposition of the dancers and trees…both both in a state of rest, yet elegant and refined.

I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a post devoted to ballet dancers and to nature.

Quite agree about 2, and 3 is getting over towards Degas. 🙂

I think children are more graceful than adults, and dancers more graceful than other people, so it wasn’t hard to see what appealed to Degas when I saw these dancers. Thanks for commenting, Adrian.

Such a varied collection…the ballerinas are fun and the rushing stream coming after them is refreshing. I like the myriad of trees framing one another, with their lime green leaves. The early spring photos are reminders of better things to come.

Happy you found things to like in this collection, Lynn. Or I should say ollections, plural. I guess we can use all the reminders we can of better things to come. Here’s hoping.
