Some of these lines may be cables of some sort rather than hoses, but I don’t have a good rhyme for them. Found all these guys at the marina in Sarasota’s Bayfront Park.

Thank you, Gunta. I do much better with the mundane things of this world than the spectacular. Given things like waterfalls, I feel as if I can’t capture them. Not so with ropes, hoses, and dumpsters.

Unstable cables? Maybe not. They’re irresistible. The last one especially, with the play of curves against straight edges and warm against cooler colors. And then you notice the weaving and wonder why. 🙂 And the first one, for all its simplicity, is very playful and sensuous. I bet you were glad not to be in Ohio this week!

You made me go back and try harder. But the best I could do was “Fables of Cables,” and then I would have to write the fables, so no, I don’t think so. I’ll give you “Unstable cable.” Thanks for your as-usual inventive comment, Lynn. . . . Yes, it was cold this week where I live in Ohio, but not as cold as where my son lives (Chicago) and my daughter lives (Madison, Wisconsin, where the wind chill took it to -47 and her office, like many others, was closed). That same day—I think it was Wednesday—my son was the only one who made it in to work at his office.

Thank you, Gibson. I hadn’t thought of them that way, but I was certainly aware of the reflections. I like reflections a lot when they don’t interfere with the rest of my composition—and especially when they create the composition.
