  1. This photo is more than it looks at first sight. The parallel lines on the window box, the bed, and wallpaper are by the diagonal lines of the wall. It’s beautifully composed. Well done, Linda.

    • Thank you, Ken. All those lines are fun, but trying to get this photograph to look straight was a real challenge. In the end I had to include the edge of that window fan to make it work. I had been hoping to be able to crop it out, but when I tried that, other things went out of whack. I’m sure you’ve dealt with similar issues.

  3. True, what Alan says, and I’m struck by that device by the window – a window fan that’s not in use? Whatever it is, it’s interesting that you didn’t choose to move it away, to maintain a vintage atmosphere. I know that’s not what you would do, you’re not one to stage a scene, but in this photo it’s particularly striking to see that trace of “reality” amidst the old wallpaper, bedspread, bed, etc. It takes the image to another level.

    • Yes, it is a window fan not in use. I didn’t move anything as I went around the house taking photographs. If something didn’t work, it didn’t work. That’s the same way I almost always photograph in nature. An errant twig or blade of grass will sometimes fall to my hand if I know I’m just going to try to clone it out after I download anyway. But even that doesn’t happen very often. (Nor do I clone out something very often.) And, yes, the fan does add the touch of reality. All the bedrooms have fans, and I was usually able to photograph a window that didn’t have one.

      • See, that’s part of what i admire about you – your discipline, or is it stubbornness? 😉

        • I have been accused by you and others in the past of being disciplined. But if I were, would I be such a procrastinator? No, it’s either stubbornness or a rigidity in doing what I already want to do.
