Thing Itself or Shadow?

October 6, 2016

I regret that I haven’t been out to Schoepfle Garden nearly as often as in past years. I did make it out there the end of September, but left with only two keepers. Here’s the first. What’s more important in this photograph, the things themselves or the shadows they cast? I think there’s a metaphor here.

I really like! Yes, I see the shadows and it is a great metaphor.

  2. ALWAYS the question! And easily answered with both-and thinking, rather than either-or thinking!
But not always easy to photograph. Often the shadows don’t show up the way you see them, right? But here they do!

    • I found three rocks on this trip that served as screens for the projection of leaves. I liked them all, but the other two didn’t make as good a photograph as this one. One nice thing about the fall is that we get longer shadows for a longer time. Thanks, as always, Lynn, for writing—and writing so pithily. (That must be a word; WordPress didn’t try to make it into something else.)
