I’m still not sure what these tubs were used for. The word “tare” on signs affixed to them suggests they were used to weigh something. Here’s what someone says. The ones in the Sarasota salvage yard had no remnants of chocolate or wax that I could see, nor did any have stainless-steel inserts, though if they ever had, they may have been sold for scrap.

I’m sure the mice would had finished off any chocolate residue long ago. Not that this salvage yard has mice.

Oh. Yeah. Hadn’t thought of that. So you think they really were used in chocolate production? What about the stainless-steel inserts?

The link indicates these tubs are “incredibly rare” and sell for over $1800 each. Someone might want to let the seller know where there’s a giant stash–contingent on a finder’s fee!

In any case they are perfect to recycle as bathtubs for the ‘poor-girl-chic’ style … as long as her gross weight is under 207…

And as long as she doesn’t mind baling out the water with buckets or siphoning it: these had no drains.
